This Refund Policy explains how billing, cancellations, and refunds work for the Hookie Standard plan. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Use. Subscriptions are billed through PayPal.
1. Try before you pay
Hookie offers a Free tier so you can evaluate the Service — ingestion, routing, delivery, and the live stream — before subscribing. We encourage you to confirm the Service meets your needs on the Free tier before upgrading.
2. Billing model
- The Standard plan is $7.99 USD per month, billed in advance on a recurring monthly cycle to your PayPal account.
- Each charge covers the upcoming one-month period. There are no long-term commitments — you may cancel at any time.
3. Cancellations
- You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing in the console (account owners only), which stops future renewals.
- When you cancel, your Standard features remain active through the end of the current paid period, after which your account reverts to the Free tier.
- Because Free-tier data retention is shorter (currently 7 days), export any data you need before downgrading or canceling.
4. Refunds
Monthly fees are generally non-refundable, and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods or for time remaining after you cancel. However, we will provide a refund in the following cases:
- First-time money-back guarantee. If you are subscribing to Standard for the first time and are not satisfied, request a refund within 14 days of your first charge and we will refund that first month’s fee.
- Billing errors. Duplicate charges, charges after a valid cancellation, or amounts that do not match your plan will be refunded.
- Extended outage. If the Service is materially unavailable for a prolonged period due to our fault, contact us — we may, at our discretion, issue a credit or refund.
- Where required by law. Nothing in this Policy limits refund or cancellation rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.
Approved refunds are issued to the original PayPal payment method. Processing typically takes 5–10 business days depending on PayPal and your provider.
5. Consumer rights (EEA/UK)
If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. By subscribing and beginning to use the paid Service during that period, you may acknowledge that performance has begun and that your right of withdrawal may end once the service is fully performed, to the extent permitted by law. Your statutory rights are not affected by this Policy.
6. How to request a refund
Email [email protected] from the address associated with your account, including your account/organization name and the reason for the request. Please contact us before initiating a payment dispute or chargeback with PayPal — we can usually resolve issues faster directly, and chargebacks filed without contacting us may result in suspension of the account pending resolution.
7. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Changes apply to charges made after the “Last updated” date above and do not retroactively affect prior charges.
