Both receive webhooks, verify the sender's signature, retry deliveries to your services and let you replay them. Hookdeck is a mature event gateway with a large free event allowance and a local-development CLI. Hookie keeps every payload as a searchable record you can export, routes it into named datasets, and adds AI steps, workflows and forms, on flat plans with no overage billing.

When Hookdeck is the better pick

  • You need webhooks tunnelled to localhost while you develop: Hookdeck's CLI does that for free, and Hookie's does not.
  • Your volume is high and spiky: a larger free allowance and metered events can cost less than a fixed tier.
  • You want more than a day of automatic retries.

When Hookie is

  • You want every payload kept whole and searchable, not only while it is being retried, and exported when someone asks for a spreadsheet.
  • You want a price that cannot grow with a traffic spike: Hookie bills no overage on any plan.
  • You collect forms and alerts too, or want AI to read events as they arrive.

Try it on the free plan: create an endpoint, or read the Stripe, GitHub and Shopify guides and pricing.
